Tribune XI beat HT XI

A fine knock by opening batsmen helped Tribune XI to defeat Hindustan Times XI by nine wickets in a cricket match organised at the Government College for Boys here today. HT XI scored 117 for 7 wickets in stipulated 20 overs. The score, however, proved too small, as Tribune XI achieved the target in only 13 overs. Openers, Jupinderjit Singh and Amritpal Singh Pinku, took the match out of the opponents hands by scoring at a run rate of over nine an over. They shared a partnership of 83 runs. Jupinderjit remained not out at 57. He hits seven fours. Pinku scored 24 run that included three fours and a huge six. Amit Kumar remained not out on 14. HT XI bowlers bowled 14 wide balls. Maninder Singh top scored for HT XI with 36 runs. Barring Munish (15) and Bittu (18) other batsmen could not make their presence felt. Sunny, Parminder Singh and Sukhjinder Saini bowled a good line for Tribune XI. Sunny and Parminder took three wickets each. Athletics meet:
The 8th annual athletics meet of Shanti Tara College, Ahmedgarh, will be held on Friday, according to Mr Amarjit Singh Sidhu, director of the college. The Grewal Club and the Friends Club recorded wins in the Dr B.R. Ambedkar Cricket Tournament that began at the SDP College for Women ground here today.Mr Balraj Bhasin, President, SDP Sabha, inaugurated the tournament.
