Vaccination drive for animals

Ludhiana, January 27
According to Dr Kamal Sharma, Senior Veterinary Officer, Jagraon, keeping in view the sporadic cases of the foot and mouth disease in some areas of Punjab, a vaccination campaign has been started in Jagraon subdivision.

According to Dr Sharma, the foot and mouth vaccine and H.S. vaccine (haemorragic septicaemia) has been supplied to veterinary institutions. OC

Knitting contest for schoolchildren

Ludhiana, January 27
Over 100 students of Shri Hargobind Public School participated in knitting contest organised by the VSGM.
Students from classes VI to XI participated in the contest. They were divided in five categories and given a free hand to knit on the spot any pattern of their choice.

Mr Harish Bhatia, Product Manager VSGM, said, “The winners will participate in the zonal-level competition to be held in Ludhiana on January 30. The state-level winners will get cash prizes of Rs 5,100, Rs 3100, and Rs 2100.

Navjot, Ravinder and Parminder (VI), Dolly, Manpreet, Jaspreet (VII), Jaspreet, Manbir, Nirmaldeep (VIII), and Satwinder Singh, Deepika, Navneet (IX), Davinder, Lovepreet and Kuljeet (X) were declared winners.

Judicial remand for traffic cops

Ludhiana, January 27
Two traffic policemen and a Home Guard personnel, who were suspended by the district police authorities for indulging in corruption yesterday, were remanded in judicial custody for 14 days by a district court today.

ASI Vinod Kumar, Constable Joginder Singh and a Home Guard, Kamlesh were caught while accepting bribe from some truck drivers at a police checkpost.

They had allegedly accepted a bribe of Rs 110 from three truck drivers in the case.

Police sources said senior officials had earlier found some discrepancies in the challan books given to these personnel. They were arrested on the spot and sent to the jail. All of them were suspended also.

The case comes close on the heels of a strange challaning of a leader of SAD by an ASI of the Traffic Police.
