Free health service to women, diabetics New Delhi, January 23 The initiative is part of the institute’s endeavour to bring hassle-free, quality consultation closer to the residents of the city and also to emphasise the importance of preventive healthcare. The free camp is being announced through mailers, radio announcements and effective placement of posters and banners in the vicinity and at various Lifespring stores. The institute has set up an information desk at the venue, with a representative stationed at the site, to provide a first-hand information about the camp. The consulting procedure is based on a number of factors such as gathering inputs about lifestyle habits, education level, awareness levels about the existing ailments, current level of treatment and care. The inputs are helping the consultants to determine the barriers to the existing treatment received by the patients. The consultants are also referring clinical tests and follow-up sessions. According to Mr Abhishek Bhartia, Director of the Sitaram Bhartia Institute, this camp in collaboration with the Dr Morepen, Lifespring store, is a step towards promoting preventive measures in Delhi. Owing to changes in lifestyles, pre-diabetic conditions and women’s health are becoming a major concern in the city’s health sector. Pre-diabetic conditions such as impaired glucose tolerance and impaired fasting glucose levels, have depicted 30 per cent of the population turning into diabetics, if the patient check-up trend resisted preventive measures. Through this camp, the institute is trying to educate patients on how the symptoms and diseases can be controlled. Mr Bhartia said, “We are trying to emphasise how regular check-ups and tests can negate complications arising from diabetes. It is the endeavour of the institute to bring its vast experience and research knowledge to treat patients at the initial stages.” As a special feature, the camp is providing the benefits of unlimited consultations with specialised doctors during the 10-day tenure. In-depth counselling sessions are being imparted. Education is being provided at the camp to address the psycho-social needs of the patients. |
