Delhi crush Kerala in SBI cricket

New Delhi, January 17
Sanjiv Chopra hit a stroke-filled century and left-arm medium pacer Ravinder Bhandari claimed five wickets for eight runs to help Delhi trounce Kerala by 199 runs in a league match of the All-India State Bank of India Inter-Circle Cricket Tournament at the Khalsa College ground.

The tournament was inaugurated by Vice-Chancellor of Delhi University Dr Deepak Nayyar.

Five former Test players—SMH Kirmani, Ashok Malhotra, Raghu Ram Bhatt, Shashi Kant Khadker and Gyanender Pandey—are taking part in the tournament.

Scores: Delhi: 268 for 3 in 30 overs (Sanjeev Chopra 109, Ajay Verma 84 no, Mithun Kumar 2 for 41).

Kerala: 69 all out in 25.3 overs (K Keshav 26, Rajesh Joshi 2 for 7, Ravinder Bhandari 5 for 8, Mukesh Arya 2 for 22).

Ahmedabad defeated Lucknow by seven wickets at the Hindu College ground.

Scores: Lucknow: 142 in 28 overs (Rahul Sapru 79 n.o, Gyanender Pandey 33, Dhanshu Patel 2 for 24).

Ahmedabad: 143 for 5 in 26.5 overs (Tejas Varsani 46 n.o, Bharat Patel 45, S K Wahi 2 for 12).

Patna defeated Bangalore by seven runs at the Delhi University ground.

Scores: Patna: 159 for 6 in 30 overs (Tarun Kumar 89, Rajeev Prasad 23, S Prakash 3 for 34).

Bangalore: 152 for 8 in 30 overs (Manoj Turakhia 76, Sunil Kumar 2 for 23).

St Michael School move into final

An all-round performance by Ajajuddin, who scored a strokeful 75 and claimed two wickets for 22 runs, and deadly bowling performances by Babar Rizvi (3 for 22) and Saif Khan (2 for 23) helped St Michael School, Bhopal trounced DAV, Chandigarh by 51 runs and entered the final of the HT-Pace National Young Cricket Tournament at the Salwan School ground, Rajinder Nagar.

Ajajuddin was adjudged the man of the match.

Scores: St. Michael School: 239 all out in 34.4 overs (Ajajuddin 75, Zibran Javed 25 n.o, Gurukirat Singh 4 for 41, Deepak 3 for 26).

DAV, Chandigarh: 188 all out in 33.5 overs (Parshant 32, Narender 29, Babar Rizvi 3 for 22, Saif Khan 2 for 23, Ajajuddin 2 for 22).

In another match, Salwan Boys School emerged the winners through the spin of coin after their match against Modern School, Barakhamba Road ended in a deadlock.

Scores: Salwan Boys: 166 all out in 35 overs (Pardeep Maan 45, Deepak Rai 35, Rohit Saini 20, Aviril 3 for 40, Deepak Rajput 2 for 15).

Modern School, Barakhamba Road: 166 for 8 in 35 overs (Aswat Kumr 45, Raghav 36, Deepak Rajput 28, Ashutosh Sharma 3 for 24, Sawan Saini 2 for 23). Pardeep Maan was named the man of the match.

Gail India advance

Gail India defeated Saxena and Saxena by four wickets and earned two points in the Champions Trophy Cricket Tournament at the Venkateswara College ground.

Scores: Saxena and Saxena: 124 for 9 in 25 overs (Aswani 31, Amit Verma 31, Arshad 2 for 22 Suresh 3 for 22).

Gail India: 128 for 6 in 21 overs (Thomas 35, Gautam 31, Satish 28, Vijay 3 for 17).

Sanjay bowls Spel to victory

A devastating 6 for 12 bowling spell by Sanjay helped Spel beat SISL by 45 runs in a Friendship Cup match at the DDA Sports Complex, Saket. Sanjay was named the man of the match.

Scores: Spel: 144 for 9 in 22 overs (Sunil Mherre 40, Amit 3 for 27, Nishant Sharma 2 for 24).

SISL: 99 all out in 18.4 overs (Simran 33, Nishant Sharma 25, Sanjay 6 for 12).

Akash, Manish star in Rajiv Gandhi cricket

A fine knock of 49 by Akash Talwar and fierce bowling by Manish Singh (3 for 9) helped Sovereign Cricket Academy defeat Scindia Indraprastha Academy by nine runs and entered the semi-final of the first Rajeev Gandhi Memorial Under-17 Cricket Tournament at the Picknick Hut ground, Ashok Vihar.

Scores: Sovereign Academy: 213 all out in 34.5 overs (Akash Talwar 49, Amit Dashmana 32, Manish Singh 28, Rohit Yadav 3 for 19).

Scindia Academy: 204 for 7 in 35 overs (Sobers Joban 49, Kamal Arora 40, Manish Singh 3 for 27).

Delhi Academy sail into final

West Delhi Academy defeated Hans Raj Model School by 30 runs and entered the final of the Shanti Memorial Under-14 Cricket Tournament at the Najafgarh Sports Club ground. Scores: West Delhi Academy: 188 for 9 in 35 overs (Chayan Kokcha 84, Surpreet Singh 42, Vinod Chugh 3 for 30, Gaurav Sharma 3 for 41).

Hans Raj Model School: 158 all out in 33 overs (Mohit Sharma 34, Karan Chaudhary 32, Rochak Sachdeva 4 for 25, Pawan Preet Singh 3 for 32).

Rajdhani Trophy Cricket

The third Rajdhani Trophy Cricket Tournament will be held at the Khalsa College ground and Palam ground from February 5.

St Columba’s School win in ESPN soccer

St. Columba’s School edged past Modern School, Vasant Vihar 1-0 in a Group B match of the ESPN Inter-School Soccer League at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Friday. Johnson scored the match-winner. Sardar Patel Vidyalaya drew with Mt Carmel School 1-1 in another Group B match. Amol scored for Sardar Patel Vidyalaya while Samel drew parity for Mt. Carmel.

In a Group D match, G D Goenka Public School defeated Air Force School, Subroto Park 1-0. Shashank scored the match-winner. In another match in the same group, Birla Vidya Niketan defeated Springdales School, Daula Kuan 1-0. Kartik scored the match-winners.
