Sunita Rani honoured Ludhiana, January 15 She was honoured by her alma mater in recognition of her excellence in the field of athletics at the international level. Sunita needs no introduction. Hailing from an ordinary family background, Sunita Rani has won exceptional laurels by her sheer hardwork, determination and grit at young age. Born in February, 1979, in Sunam, Sunita did her schooling from Government Senior Secondary School for Girls, Sunam, before joining Punjabi University, Patiala, for graduation. Besides being the youngest Arjuna Award winner, Sunita Rani has been decorated with Padamashree for her contribution in athletics. An athlete par excellence, she is a living embodiment of the restlessness winning zeal of Punjabi character. Unpretentious and unassuming, Sunita is a rare blend of humility and perfection. Her sporting glory is further accentuated by her simplicity and clarity of thought. A winner of almost all races in which she participated since 1995, she has won 80 gold medals in the national events and 15 medals in the international championships. She has continued her medal-winning spree right up to the Busan
