annual function Chandigarh, December 16 The programme commenced with Sarasvati Vandana and included songs, dances and an English play which depicted a child’s world of fantasy. The school’s annual report was also read out by the Principal, Mrs Kiran Dutta, in which she highlighted the achievements of the students in academic and co-curricular fields. Later, addressing the gathering, Air Commodore Prashar said self-discipline, hard work and punctuality were the keys to success. He also exhorted the students and staff members to strive harder to achieve better results. |
Students present cultural show Chandigarh, December 16 The Regional Officer, CBSE, Mr Yograj Sachdeva, was the chief guest on the occasion. The programme began with Shabad Kirtan. The school Principal, Ms Agamjot Kaur Mann read out the annual report, highlighting the institute’s activities and achievements. The cultural programme presented by the students included a puppet show, traditional as well as Western dances and an English play titled “Dumb wife of Cheapside”. Later, prizes were given away by the chief guest. Addressing the gathering, he felicitated the staff and students of the school on the occasion of the first annual day. |
DISTRICT COURTS Chandigarh, December 16 Bail
granted Rajinder Singh, allegedly involved in a case of cheating and forgery, was granted bail by the UT Additional District and Sessions Judge, Mr Tejwinder Singh, here on Monday. The accused was granted bail on the furnishing a bail bond of Rs 25,000. He was arrested on the charge of supplying fake Punjab School Education Board certificates. Bail plea dismissed The UT Additional District and Sessions Judge, Mr Tejwinder Singh, has dismissed a bail plea moved by an accused,
Keshav, in a case of kidnapping. The accused had allegedly kidnapped a city girl along with others. He was booked on December 2, 2001, under Sections 363 and 366 of the
IPC. One gets bail A local court granted bail to an accused, Deep Parkash, who had allegedly provided wrong information about an incident to the police. It was alleged that the victim, Phool Chand, was allegedly beaten up by his employer, Shiv
Shankar, on July 4. Later the victim was taken to a hospital in Sector 6, Panchkula, by the accused Deep Parkash. The doctors on duty there directed him to take the victim to the PGI, but the victim died on the way. It was alleged that the accused, Deep Parkash, had given wrong information to hospital authorities that Phool Chand had sustained serious injuries after falling from stairs. |
NK Jain told to appear in court Chandigarh, December 16 The police had claimed that Mr N.K. Jain was the main accused in the rape case as he had hatched the conspiracy, along with the others, to implicate Mr M.K. Jain. After the arrest of four accused, Ram Lal, Surinder Sharma, Narveer and Baldev, allegedly involved in the case, the police had issued a notice to Mr N.K. Jain to join the investigation. Later, following his expression of inability to join the investigation, the court had issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against him. Claiming that “the police story was concocted, false and devoid of any merit,” he said he was being falsely implicated in the case at the behest of senior police officials. Adding that he was ready to join the investigation and cooperate with the police and there was no chance of his tampering with the evidence or absconding, Mr N.K. Jain had moved an anticipatory bail plea in a local court. The plea was, however, dismissed by the UT Additional District and Sessions Judge, Ms Sneh Prashar, on December 11. The police had given Mr M.K. Jain a clean chit in the case and said the supplementary challan would be filed against Mr N.K. Jain after he joined the investigation. |
Kavi sammelan Panchkula, December 16 Mr Jaswinder Singh Sandhu, Agriculture Minister, was the chief guest. Mr Sandhu praised the Kidar Adabi Trust, which had been established to honour literary persons and award scholarships to three students of Classes VIII, X and XII, who secured the highest marks in the Punjabi subject. The minister also announced a grant of Rs 25,000 to the trust. On this occasion, Mr Kidar Nath Kidar, Dr Sudarshan Gaso, Shriram Arash, Gurdial Singh Arif, Babu Ram Diwana, Dr Gurminder Sandhu, Ms Manjit Kaur Ambalvi, Ms Tatneev, Dr Gurender Pal Singh, Mr Kulwant Singh Chawla, Mr Gurbax Singh Saini and Dolly Guleria recited their poems. |
