Hindustan toy with B B Stars
Our Sports Reporter

New Delhi, December 4
Holders Hindustan Club handed out a crushing 4-0 defeat on Buddisht Blue Stars (BB Stars) in a Group A preliminary league match of the Delhi Soccer Association (DSA)-SAIL Open Clubs Senior Division Football League Championship at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium (East) ground on Wednesday. Hindustan scored two goals in each half.

In a lop-sided encounter, Hindustan Club were kept at bay by B B Stars for quite some time, as the strikers of the defending champions could not cash in on their chances.

They finally broke the ice in the 23rd minute, when mid-fielder Candid sent a nice cross from the right flank, which was placed into the goal by inside-left Clement Andy. Once they tasted blood, there was no stopping Hindustan.

Five minutes later, Hindustan scored the second goal when Clement’s header rebounded off from rival custodian R S Negi, and striker Sameer Jung made no mistake with the rebound.

In the second half, substitute Sandeep enhanced the lead to 3-0 in the 60th minute while M K Candid placed the ball in from the top of the box in the 66th minute to round off the tally.

Thursday’s fixture: City Club vs Garhwal Heroes (3 pm)—Nehru Stadium.
