Shekhawat’s wife in AIIMS
New Delhi, November 28
Ms Suraj Kanwar, wife of Vice-President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, was today shifted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences for treatment. She suffered a heart attack in Jaipur yesterday. UNI

Swami’s son acquitted 
Karnal, November 28 
Mr Rajinder Swami, son of Union Minister of State for Home I.D. Swami, and Haryana Vyapar Mandal president Lakshmi Chand Gupta were among the 18 persons acquitted by a local court here today. The others acquitted by Chief Judicial Magistrate A K Bishnoi here included mandal general secretary Bal Krishan Aggarwal and local BJP unit vice-president Om Prakash Arora. They were booked under various Sections of the IPC on June 4, 1998, after an agitation at the new anaj mandi for the distribution of plots on reserve price. UNI

Five of family burnt alive
Lucknow, November 28 
Five members of a family, including four children, were charred to death when the fire lit for preparing dinner swirlled out of control in Sant Kabir Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh late last night, the police said. The DGP office said today that the incident took place in the Durgaganj area. It is suspected that the fire lit for preparing dinner torched the thatched roof of the house, killing Ambadevi (42) and her two daughters and two sons. The police was trying to ascertain any foul play. UNI

4 Gujarat Cong MLAs expelled
Gandhinagar, November 28
Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) today expelled four sitting MLAs who were denied party tickets for recontesting in the December Assembly Poll. The fur MLAs — Bachubhai Kishoria, Pratap Gamit, Ishwar Gamit and Ishwar Wahia — have been expelled for six years. Meanwhile, yesterday two Congress workers were also expelled from the party for filing nominations from the Nationalist Congress Party. They are: Hemang Vasavada and Jayant Patel. UNI
