Multimedia library in BCM

BCM Arya Model School has introduced the concept of a ‘Multimedia knowledge library’, which will provide to its students vast and up-to-date knowledge of different subjects viz. science, tats, commerce, languages, mathematics, computers, social science etc., besides various games, quizzes, puzzles and encyclopaedias.

This CD library was inaugurated by the president of the school managing committee, Mr Satyanandji Munjal, by lighting a lamp. On the occasion, Principal of the school, Mrs Paramjit Kaur, stressed the need to supplement classroom learning with IT. “This library will be a tool to equip the students with the latest information and knowledge,” she said. Nidhi, a student of class XI (commerce) expressed her gratitude to the Principal and the management committee of the school for introducing the library.

Mr V.K. Anand, executive of Oswal Multimedia, presented the concept-cum-live demonstration by showing a few CDs and discussed the depth of contents, graphic quality of a CD. He also demonstrated the ways to make the teaching-learning process effective through the use of this audio-visual aid. The chief guest blessed the students and urged them to make use of the facility.

Ms Fresher contest organised

The commerce department of Khalsa Girls College, Civil Lines, had organised a freshers party for commerce students (first year). The aim was to welcome the freshers and give them a chance to interact with senior students and the faculty members. Before the start of fashion show, the senior students had presented a great choreography with a religious theme.

The college campus was a hub of activity. More than 35 freshers had participated in Ms Fresher contest.

The girls were dressed up in modern outfits. The freshers sashyed down a make-shift ramp with great elan and confidence.

State-level maths test on November 10

Ludhiana, October 19
The Regional Corporate Office of Castle Learning Centre is organising fifth state-level mathematics test on November 10 in Guru Nanak Public School, Sarabha Nagar.

Students of classes IX and X, of all leading schools affiliated to the PSEB and the CBSE, will participate the test. Results will be declared in December and the winner wizard 2002, will be awarded a gold medal a TV and sponsored gifts.

The first runners-up, Genius 2002, will be given a silver medal, a portable stereo and sponsored gifts and the second runners-up, Ace 2002, a bronze medal, a camera, besides sponsored gifts.

The next 12 students on the merit list, Experts 200, will be rewarded with awards and sponsored gifts. There is a special prize for the school with the best performance. Top three students of class IX and three topers of the PSEB will be awarded special prizes. Top 250 meritorious students will also be given merit certificates.

Creativity rewards

The Maya Academy of Advanced Cinematics (MAAC) announced the launch of the nation-wide “Creativity Rewards,” scholarships for students interested in pursuing a career in animation and the multimedia industry, the next boom segment of the IT juggernaut of India. The rewards shall be in the form of a scholarship of upto 100 per cent of the course fees.

The Academy shall be conducting a competition in creativity at all its 20 centres in the country on October 20. Mr Amit Gupta, Director of the Ludhiana MAAC, said that a test in general knowledge and creativity was being conducted at its centre and this shall also comprise a test in on-the-spot sketching and storyboard writing.

The merit list of each centre shall be prepared separately and the topper from amongst all the 20 centres of the MAAC shall receive a 100 per cent scholarship for studying any course at the MAAC.

The toppers from each respective MAAC centre shall get a scholarship worth 75 per cent of the cost of the fees for any of the courses.

Shabad gayan competition

Ludhiana, October 19
Second Baba Gurumukh Singh Memorial Inter-School Shabad Gayan competition was held at Guru Nanak Public School, Sarbaha Nagar, Ludhiana today.

As many as 13 schools from Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Amritsar and other parts of the state participated for the top honors. Two teams of the host school, junior team and senior team, participated but did not compete for any prize.

Sat guru Par tap Singh Academy, Bahraini Sahib, won the first prize, GIN Public School got the second prize and Guru Nanak International Public School got the third prize.

1 tabla player award was given to SSP Academy, Bahraini Sahib.

II tabla player award was given to GRIPS, Model Town, Ludhiana.

III tabla player award was given to NSPS Gill Park, Ludhiana.

Besides two consolation prizes were also given to Ramgarhia Girls Senior Secondary School, Ludhiana and to Guru Amar Dass Public School, Ludhiana.

‘Educative’ sessions

Ludhiana
Coffee sessions , now a regular feature at Majestic Park Plaza are becoming popular with women. The women not only get a chance to play games but learn a lot from the experts who come and give tips on grooming, health etc. In a coffee session held on Friday an expert Ms Meenu gave tips on how to maintain a good figure. She advised the women never to skip breakfast or any meals as it was not healthy. OC
