Arjun's co-driver will be D Ram, Naren Kumar's navigator. Arjun will replace V Naren Kumar, who did not finish the three APRC rounds he participated this year in Australia, New Zealand and Japan.

Arjun, who participated in the Australian round of the APRC, could not finish the rally as his navigator R Kumar took ill.

Arjun is expected to perform better in China as he has adjusted well to the 280 bhp Mitsubishi Lancer EVO VII.

Stuart Warren of New Zealand, his co-driver Daryll Judd, Arjun Balu and D Ram will form the MRF team. Stuart, who knows the Chinese terrain, was confident on the eve of his departure.

With two consecutive wins in New Zealand and Japan, Stuart is hopeful, other things remaining the same.

The total distance of the Rally of China will be 974.31km, of which the competitive stages of dirt roads will cover 270.42km.

Stuart will rely heavily on MRF's 205/70 R15 tyres, which he used for the first time in Japan last month, and helped him win the treacherous terrain of the rally of Hokkaido, Japan. A Rodricks, MRF's team manager, confirmed that "only minor corrective modifications have been made to the tyres that have been despatched to Shaoguan. Although we have sent both soft and medium compound tyres, due to the warm temperature in Shaoguan, we may only use the latter".

Meanwhile, Naren Kumar drove to victory in the Rally Royal Orchid Park Plaza De Bangalore, which concluded at the Park Plaza Hotel on Sunday, maintaining his unbeaten run over four rounds. Naren Kumar and co-driver D Ram Kumar finished the 11 special stages, comprising 120.6kms in 1:43.46 minutes, a little over four minutes ahead of the second-placed Arjun Balu.
