Punjabi writer dead
Sangrur, September 20
Punjabi writer Gurcharan Singh Premi and former municipal councillor Ganga Ram Chawla died on the spot when their car collided with a vehicle near Goraya today. Their bodies were brought here and later cremated today. Premi (73) was a short-story writer and an essayist in Punjabi. He was a member of the Kendriya Punjabi Lekhak Sabha. The driver of the car was seriously injured. UNI

200 guerillas killed
Bogota, September 20 
About 200 leftist guerillas were killed in a government bombing of two rebel camps in north-western Colombia, an air force general said today. The commander of the Colombian air force, General Hector Velasco, told reporters that government planes attacked a Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia outpost in Ituango, in a jungle region near the border with Panama. Minister quits
Kohima, September 20
Nagaland Home Minister Neiphiu Rio today resigned from the ministry, saying “he lost confidence in the leadership of Mr S C Jamir”. Addressing a press conference at his official residence here, Mr Rio distributed copies of his letter to the Chief Minister in which he thanked Mr Jamir for accommodating him in his Council of Ministers and providing opportunities for the development of the state.
