Khanna picked as vice-chairman of
NCA New Delhi, September 20 BCCI president Jagmohan Dalmia, who secured a second term in office as BCCI president during the Annual General Assembly in Kolkata, has said that the “Most important project of the BCCI at hand is restructuring of the existing National Cricket Academy into a state-of-the-art outfit.” A high-profile cricket committee, under the chairmanship of Sunil Gavaskar, is being formed consisting of players and other technical persons as well as a few administrators. This would act as a think-tank to run the affairs of Indian cricket. “Sunil Gavaskar continues to be the chairman of NCA and C. K. Khanna is being shifted from the position of the BCCI vice-president to take over as vice-chairman of NCA in view of the importance of the new project”, informed Mr Dalmia. Mr Dalmia said the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) had already purchased 30 acres of land from the Karnataka Government and the Board would purchase 12 acres of the allotted land from the KSCA to set up the “new look NCA”. Besides scientific training techniques, encouragement of athletic skills, performances and mental skills, the focus would also be to develop all-round ability of the players and to encourage them to pursue educational programmes side by side with cricket. “The BCCI has also acquired land near Maharani Bagh from the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi where it proposed to set up a cricket museum, an administrative complex and an academy,” Dalmia said. He said the total fund earmarked for the project is to the tune of Rs 17 crores. |

hailed New Delhi, September 20 Kirti Azad replaced former Test player Madan Lal as the India selector from North Zone. Kirti Azad is also the president of the NCT Cricket Association Delhi. NCT Cricket Association Delhi secretary Parmod Jain said Kirti's selection "will go a long way in improving the cricket standard in India". |

India New Delhi, September 20 After the interval, Sumesh Gusain completed the winners' tally while Inder pulled the consolation goal for South India Club in 48th minute. In the second match played at the Ambedkar Stadium, Paschim Heroes scored a 4-1 victory against Shakti Club. The highlight of the match was a brilliant hattrick by Parveen Shokeen, who struck in the 15th, 24th and 34th minutes. Aditya scored the lone goal for Shakti Club. Nivia Club trounced Ajmal Club 9-0 in a lop-sided match at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. A hattrick by Trilok Singh was th high point of the match. The other goal-getters were Rehmat (three goals, no hattrick), Naseem, Sahid and Gaurav. Bangadarshan, New Friends Club and Venus Club got walkovers from their respective opponents Young Bengal Association, Gulabi Bagh and Young Heroes, who failed to turn up.
