No cut in EPF rate

Ruling out slashing of interest rate on Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF), Labour Minister Sahib Singh Verma has said employees should continue to get the existing rate of 9.5 per cent. “I am opposed to it (lowering of EPF rate). PTI

FDI ceiling

The nod for raising sectoral caps on foreign direct investment (FDI) in insurance, civil aviation and telecom was deferred today, with the Cabinet deciding to ‘’reconsider’’ the matter at a later meeting. A decision on the Voluntary Retirement Scheme for public sector oil companies was also deferred by the Cabinet. UNI
