Bail-out package for UTI
Move to restore investor confidence
New Delhi, August 31
In a major initiative at restoring investor confidence in the beleagured Unit Trust of India, the Centre today announced a number of measures involving injection of funds to the tune of Rs 14,561 crore, bifurcating the mutual fund and repealing of the UTI Act through an Ordinance.

serious crisis of credibility has gripped the instruments of governance, including the administration of justice, amidst scams, scandals, cover-up operations and communication gaps at all levels. This is true of the entire country, especially of Punjab, which in recent times has been under the spell of what has come to be broadly labelled the PPSC scam. The seeds of the scam were not sown during the six-month-old regime of Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh.

EC may look into package for migrants

The Election Commission may look into the financial package announced by the Centre for Kashmiri migrants to ascertain whether it was violation of the model code of conduct, which came into effect on August 2 with the announcement of Assembly poll in Jammu and Kashmir.
