Delhi cop's bail plea rejected
Dehra Dun, August 27
A local court today rejected the bail application of senior Delhi police officer Raj Kumar Sharma, who was remanded to 14 days judicial custody on Friday in a rape case. Passing the order, Chief Judicial Magistrate Giridhar Dharam Sattu said the bail could not be granted to the accused at this juncture. PTI

Jawan kills 4
Agartala, August 27
An inebriated BSF jawan gunned down four persons, including a child, and shot at six in a camp at Gandachara in Tripura’s Dhalai district yesterday, official sources said here today. The jawan, Mantu Barman of 68 Battalion, suddenly entered a BSF recreation centre and pumped bullets from his self-loading rifle killing three jawans and a four-year-old tribal child. A combing operation had been launched to nab the culprit, who hailed from West Dinajpur in West Bengal. UNI
