DMCH employees hold state-level rally
Our Correspondent

Ludhiana, August 16
The union of the Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) supported by other unions accused the DMCH management of not being serious about finding a solution of the imbroglio during a massive rally held near Haibowal Kalan here today.

The rally was attended by the union leaders of about 40 other organisations. The union leaders alleged the DMCH management, district administration and state government for being indifferent towards the employees ‘struggle’.

Ms Amardeep Jakhu, spokesperson of the employees’ union, alleged that the management wanted to negotiate on their own terms and conditions which were not acceptable to the employees. While addressing the gathering, Ms Jakhu stressed that their agitation would further be intensified if negotiations failed to find a solution. If the management was adamant like this, the issue could never be resolved. She said that the union was not alone and no body could break the unity of employees.

The organisations which took part in the rally included Lok Morcha, Punjab, Inkalabi Kendar, Punjab, Democratic Teachers Front, Jamhoori Adhikar Sabha Punjab, Technical Services Union, Moulder and Steel Workers Union, Women Welfare Organisation, Agricultural Technocrats Action Committee, Bharti Kisan Union, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Vichar Manch, PAU Employees Union, Punjab Khet Mazdoor Union, Bank Employees Union, Lok Sangharash Committee (Khanna, Samrala, Jassowal), Maha Sabha Ludhiana, District Bar Association, Palledar Azad Union and Punjab Roadways Union.

The rally was addressed by Mr Amolak Singh, Mr Kanwaljit Khanna, Mr Jaswant Jeerath, Mr Bhajan Singh, Professor A.K.Maleri, Dr Hanbans Singh Grewal, Mr Balaur Singh, Mr Tarsem Singh, Mr Vijey Narayan, Mr Mohinder Singh, Ms Manjit Kaur, Mr Amrit Pal, Mr Rajinder Singh, Mr Harish Dhanda, Mr D.P. Maur, Mr Tejinder Mohi and Mr Avtar Singh Grewal.

All the above leaders demanded that false cases against the employees should be withdrawn and guilty policemen should be severely punished.

Ms Amardeep Jakhu on behalf of the union said that untill all the cases against jail employees were withdrawn, this agitation will not end. The employees also held a protest march after the rally.
