Cop arrested for selling stolen bikes
MADURAI: A city armed police wing constable was arrested in connection with buying stolen motorcycles and selling these on a huge profit, the police said on Tuesday. The police said constable Andichamy had asked his friend Logu to steal motorcycles and give them to him. Logu had got Rs 2,000 each for the five stolen motorcycles from the constable. The constable in turn sold these stolen two-wheelers at a price ranging between Rs 10,000 and Rs 15,000, the police said. PTI

265 taken ill after consuming prasad
GUWAHATI: At least 265 persons were taken ill after consuming prasad at a temple in Majuli, the world’s largest river island in Assam’s Jorhat district, official sources said on Tuesday. Seven persons, including three women were admitted to the Kamalabari hospital, while most of the victims were released after first-aid. The rest were treated in the village itself after the problem surfaced on Monday, the sources said. PTI
