Man gets life term for killing wife Ludhiana, August 6 Keeping in view the nature and gravity of the
offence committed by the convict, he is sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for life, observed Mr V. B. Handa, Sessions Judge, while pronouncing the verdict. Following a complaint by a railway driver, Mr Mohan Rana, an FIR was registered against the accused on November 16,1999, under Section 302 of the IPC. The complainant said the accused shared a disturbed relationship with his wife. On the fateful night, at about 1 pm, he heard some shrieks from the room of the accused. When he came out of his room, he saw Raj Kumar running away. Mr Rana said he found Yasodha lying in a pool of blood on the cot. She later succumbed to injuries on the spot. When Raj Kumar was arrested he claimed to be falsely implicated in the case. Prosecution, however, examined nine witnesses and succeeded in proving him guilty. |
