Sanitation awareness taken to masses
Our Correspondent

Ludhiana, July 29
The sanitation-awareness drive for prevention of diseases in rains has been intensified and officials of the Municipal Corporation have been holding public meetings in several parts of the city.

The Municipal Commissioner of Zone D, Mr Prem Chand, and two councillors — Mr Jai Parkash (of Ward 69) and Mr Raju Thapar (of Ward 70) — visited several slums and a number of schools in Kundan Puri, Shahi Mohalla and Deep Nagar to create public awareness on prevention of water-borne diseases.

Mr Prem Chand said, to prevent gastroenteritis and cholera, citizens should keep their surroundings clean, put chlorine tablets in drinking water drawn from hand pumps, drink only boiled water, avoid eating cut-fruit and overripe fruit and not let water accumulate or stagnate anywhere. Instructional handbills were also distributed among the gatherings.

A joint health camp of four wards was organised in the municipal dispensary of New Sabzi Mandi (in Zone A).
