PF interest rate may be cut
New Delhi, July 16
Differences between the Labour Ministry and the Finance Ministry on the interest paid on Employees’ Provident Fund continues with Finance Minister Jaswant Singh today saying he favours a 0.5 per cent cut in the interest rate. The Finance Ministry has advised the Labour Ministry to fix EPF interest rate at 9 per cent in the face of a soft interest rate regime and the decision to bench-mark the rate with the average yield on government securities, the Finance Minister told the Rajya Sabha.
