Sahib Singh compliments Mission on blood camp
Tribune News Service

New Delhi, July 7
The Union Labour Minister, Dr Sahib Singh Verma inaugurated a blood donation camp organized by the Sant Nirankari Mission in Avtar Enclave here today.

The blood collecting teams came from the Armed Forces Transfusion Centre and Bara Hindu Rao Hospital. Dr Verma complimented the mission for its services to humanity. He recalled the mission’s contribution towards the rescue and rehabilitation of the earthquake-stricken people of Gujarat, especially in Dhudhai near Gandhi Nagar, where a Sant Nirankari Colony is a part of Inderprastha today.

Since Dr Verma has been personally associated with the project, he acknowledged that such a complex with all modern amenities could be set up only with the divine blessing of his holiness, Baba Hardev Singh Maharaj, who visited the place and blessed the organisers as well as the resident.

Referring to blood donation, Dr Verma said that no other donation could compare with this noble act as it amounted to sharing one’s part and strength of the body with the needy and the ailing.

The Sant Nirankari Mission, which has already emerged as one of the leading blood donating voluntary organisations in the country, proposes to organise 101 blood donation camps by the end of the next month.

Started in April, the series touched 67 with the latest camp. The camp that began with a target of 200 units of blood, left many donors in the queue for want of additional capacity.

This year the mission is organising 30 camps in Delhi to supply blood to all the leading hospitals in the national Capital.

Hundreds of local residents and several dignitaries attended the inaugural function. Besides Brig Shamsher Singh(Retd), member in charge of health and social welfare, several other members of the executive committee of the Sant Nirankari Mandal as also the chairman and vice-chairman of its all India working committee were also present.

The organisers had put up an impressive exhibition depicting the mission’s approach and achievements in the field of blood donation.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr J R D Satyarthi, member in charge of ‘parchar vibhag’ said that the mission was committed to bring about a change in the life of every individual. He said that he aimed to link the individual with the almighty on the basis of actual revelation of the ultimate reality. This, he hoped, would take the individual above all divisive considerations and make him love humanity as a whole.

Blood donation, he said, is one of the manifestations of the transformation in the thinking of those who had been blessed with spiritual enlightenment by Satguru Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj. Mr K R Chadha, secretary, Sant Nirankari Mandal welcomed the chief guest.

He recalled that these camps were associated with the Manav Ekta Diwas (Human Unity Day) since 1987, which the mission observes on April 24 every year to commemorate the supreme sacrifice of the former head of the mission, Baba Gurubachan Singh Ji Maharaj on this day in 1980. Baba HardevSingh Ji Maharaj, he said, had preferred to call it Manav Ekta Divas instead of Balidan Diwas to avoid any feeling of revenge. Baba ji had declared that the blood should flow not in drains but in

veins, he added. Besides Avtar Enclave, the mission organized another four blood donation camps today in Hapur, Rampur, Jabalpur and Silvasa. A health check-up camp was also held in Noida.
