RMPs flay IMA statement

Ludhiana, July 3
The Punjab Government registered medical practitioners (RMPs) have condemned the Indian Medical Association’s statement which has asked the government to issue specific guidelines to members of other associations except for members of the IMA.

Dr B.L. Malhotra, president of the General Doctor’s Association, Ludhiana, in a meeting held here today said the right to practice medicine irrespective of any preparations was to all government registered practitioners. He said all members were governed by the Punjab Drugs and Cosmetic Rules essential for practising modern as well as indigenous medicines and were confirmed by the notification vide number 1044 HB-III 66/30375 on October 25, 1996, by the Punjab Government.

Mr Malhotra urged the IMA not to issue misleading stalemates in the press.

Ban on overloading of vehicles

Ludhiana, July 3
The District Magistrate, Mr Anurag Aggarwal, in his orders issued yesterday has prohibited vehicles meant for plying schoolchildren from carrying students in excess of 1.5 times of the registered or normal seating capacity. The orders which will apply on all vehicles, including mini buses, buses, vans, jeeps and auto rickshaws, owned by schools or other private vehicles being run under an agreement with the school authorities were made effective from July 2 to August 31.
