Stabbing, arson in Ahmedabad
Ahmedabad, June 23
One person was injured in a stabbing incident in the Sahpur area of the walled city this afternoon, the police said. The incident was a fallout of personal enmity, police said adding, two youth were apprehended in connection with the incident immediately. In yet another incident, an autorickshaw was set on fire by an unruly group at Mandal village in Ahmedabad district, the police added. PTI

Beur jail staff end stir
Patna, June 23
Staff of the Beur Central Jail here, who went on a strike after armed miscreants fired at the head warder, called off stir late last night following the intervention of the district administration. The police said the administration had conceded to their demands of shifting four hardcore criminals to some other prison and strengthening security in and around the jail premises. PTI

Sukhois coming
Moscow, June 23
Russia has begun deliveries of its new Sukhoi-30MKI jet fighters to India, the Interfax news agency said today. The first two of 10 fighters due for delivery to India this year were sent on their way from the factory in Irkutsk, Siberia, the report said. Under a military contract worth the equivalent of $ 4 billion, India was also to assemble SU-30MKI fighters under Russian licence. DPA
