IA cruise to Hot Weather Cricket final New Delhi, June 23 Indian Airlines will take on the winners of the second semi-final match between Oil and Natural Gas Commission (ONGC) and Rohtak Road Gymkhana to be played on June 25. Indian Airlines will be featuring in the fifth final of a local tournament this season as earlier, they had won the titles of the Om Nath Sood and Goswami Ganesh Dutt cricket tournaments, and finished runners-up in the Lala Raghubir Singh cricket. They have also entered the final of the sixth Lala Hari Ram Day-Night Cricket Tournament, besides the DDCA Hot Weather. In a closely-fought match, National Stadium Coaching Centre won the toss and opted to bat. But barring Tariq-ur-Rehman’s power-packed 97, which contained seven fours and four sixes, other batsmen failed to apply themselves in the face of controlled and hostile bowling of the Airlines players. The Indian Airlines bowlers were given the stick by Tariq-ur-Rehman, who had cracked 125 runs against Food Corporation of India, on Saturday. But the other batsmen failed to find their niche though Ramiz Nemat, who scored an unbeaten 23, and Hanish Arora, who struck 21, made brave attempts to bolster the run-rate. In the end, NSCC could make only 206 for 9 in 40 overs. Left-arm spinner Sonu Sharma was the most devastating bowler for Airlines as he claimed three wickets for 33 runs in his eight-over spell. In reply, Indian Airlines coasted to victory by scoring 209 for eight in 38.3 overs. Rajat Bhatia and Ishan Ganda hoisted a partnership of 109 runs for the fourth wicket, after Indian Airlines struggled at 83 for 3. Manvinder Bisla hit a valuable half-century to help Airlines’ reach the victory. Medium-pacer Joginder Sharma did an excellent job with the ball for NSCC as he claimed four wickets for 32 runs in his eight-over spell. Three players of Indian Airlines fell victims to run-outs, but the knocks of Rajat Bhatia, Manvinder Bisla and Ishan Ganda were sufficient for Airlines to race to the final. Rajat Bhatia was adjudged the man of the match. Scores: NSCC: 206 for 9 in 40 overs (Tariq-ur-Rehman 97, 7x4, 4x6; Ramiz Nemat 23; Hanish Arora 21; Sonu Sharma 3 for 33, Ishan Ganda 2 for 34, Gagandeep Singh 1 for 30, Babloo Kumar 1 for 36, Rajat Bhatia 1 for 38). Nikhil Chopra stars in Hari Ram Cricket New Delhi, June 23 Electing to bat, Indian Airlines were all out for 191 in 35 overs. After struggling at 19 for 2, Ishan Ganda and R. R Parida raised a 56-run third-wicket partnership to bail out Airlines from the tight spot they had found themselves trapped. Parida struck a rapidfire 35 with five fours while Ishan Ganda made 27 with three fours.
