Chandigarh, June 23
A keen battle was witnessed in the final of the All India (under 17) cash prize invitational cricket tournament played between Stadium XI and the Punjab Cricket Association XI at DAV Senior Secondary School, Sector 8, here this afternoon. The PCA XI lost by 15 runs to Stadium XI.

Batting first, Stadium XI piled up a huge total of 231 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 50 runs. S. Kanwar with five hits to the fence was the star player of their team. He was assisted by Simran Sidhu who hammered 41 runs. Sumit Dhiman scored 28 runs that included three boundaries. Sidharth Sharma’s 25 runs comprised three hits to the fence. Nitin Rathi scored 20 runs. For the bowling side, for Stadium XI, it were Yadavinder Singh, Ashotosh Pandit and Gaurav Gambhir who all claimed two wickets each by conceding 42,46 and 28 runs, respectively.

For PCA XI, Nikhil Dwivedi remained the highest scorer with 44 runs. Varinder Singh scored 33 runs with four hits to the fence. But other batsmen of the PCA XI fumbled and it soon lost nine wickets for 133 runs. At this juncture, it appeared if PCA XI will soon succumb to the fine bowling of Stadium XI seamers. However, in the last over of the day, Ram Kumar got run out for 30 runs but Ashutosh remained unbeaten with 43 runs. PCA XI was all out for 216.
