HDFC Bank sail into Hari Ram Cricket
semis New Delhi, June 13 HDFC captain Nirmal Bansal won the toss and elected to bat. Prashant Malviya and Pitamber Dutt added 103 runs for the third wicket to lay a solid foundation for the Bank total. Prashant scored 61 off 64 balls with eight fours while Pitamber Dutt slammed an unbeaten 71 off 56 balls with nine fours and two sixes. Chasing such a modest total, Railways failed to reach the achievable target as they crashed out for 184 in 29.5 overs despite a fine knock of 60 by Zakir Hussain. Gyanender Pandey, Nischal Gaur and Raj Kapoor bowled with control and cunning to get the crucial wickets of Railways. Pitamber Dutt was adjudged the man of the match. He was presented with a BDM bat by Roop Chaudhary. Prashant Malviya and Raj Kapoor were chosen as the best batsmand and best bowler respectively. Scores: HDFC Bank: 205 for 5 in 30 overs (Pitamber Dutt 71 n o, Prashant Malviya 61, Reetender Sodhi 20, Murali Karthik 2 for 45). 13 Only fourth-seeded Sonal Phadke could not keep her date with victory as she crashed out rather tamely to sixth seeded Radhika Tulpule at 0-6,4-6. Second-seeded Shruti Dhawan had yet another easy outing when she pummelled Lata Assudani 6-0,6-1 while top seed Sheetal Goutham had to sweat it out in the sweltering heat to overwhelm fifth seeded Archana Venkataraman at 7-5,6-1. Third-seeded Ankita Bhambri ousted seventh-seeded Liza Pereira 6-3,6-2 as the semi-final line-up was completed. In the doubles semi-final, top-seeded pair of Shruti Dhawan and Sheetal Goutham got the better of Archana and Arthi Venkataraman 6-4,6-1 to storm into the final. |

Muttu hattricks for Nivia Club New Delhi, June 13 Muttu scored the second, fifth, sixth, seventh and the ninth goals. The other scorers for the winners were Kapil (two) and Rakesh (two). Nivia have collected four points from two matches while Golden Stars are yet to open their account. In the second match, Delhi Vidyut Board failed to turn up match against Food Corporation of India (North Zone).
