Sumit hits unbeaten century for Citizen

New Delhi, June 13
Chand Khanna recorded a crushing eight-victory against Professional Management Group in the DDCA Hot Weather Cricket Tournament at the Khalsa College ground in the Capital.

Chand Khanna will take on Dena Bank in their next match at the Kotla I ground on June 15. Farhman Ahmed, who scored 43 for Chand Khanna, was adjudged the man of the match.

Scores: Professional Management Group: 115 all out in 38.4 overs (Priyank 35, Saurabh Saxena 3 for 14, Tony Singh 2 for 19, Vikas Sharma 2 for 27).

Chand Khanna: 116 for 2 in 23.3 overs (Farman Ahmed 43, Rjan Gupta 38 n o, 4x4, 1x6; Sidhartha Verma 28 n o).

An unbeaten century by former Delhi Ranji Trophy player Sumit Dogra (101,76b, 3x6, 8x4) enabled Citizen Club beat Madras Club by 134 runs at the Ferozeshah Kotla ground.

Citizen will take on R R Gymkhana in their next match at the Delhi University ground. Sumit Dogra was adjudged the man of the match.

Scores: Citizen Club: 255 for 6 in 40 overs (Sumit Dogra 101, Rajiv Yadav 59, 2x6, 7x4, 52b; Aditya Aima 33, Craig Fernandez 32, Sanjeev Kumar 2 for 29, Sahil Arora 2 for 32).

Madras Club: 121 all out in 32.2 overs (Kamal Chopra 36, Rahul Dewan 24, Vishal Singh Yadav 3 for 20).

Star-studded Indian Airlines beat Tilak Nagar Colts by nine wickets to enter the quarter-final at the University ground. Openers Shankar Saini (46) and Onkar Singh (49 n o) put on 87 runs for the opening wicket. Onkar Singh was adjudged the man of the match.

Scores: Tilak Nagar Colts: 128 all out in 33.2 overs (Ashwani Kapoor 32, Sachin 41, Rohit Sharma 21, Sanjay Dobal 3 for 13, Rajat Bhatia 2 for 26).

Indian Airlines: 129 for one wicket in 21.1 overs (Onkar Singh 49 n o, Shankar Saini 46, Sanjay Dobal 20 n o).

Young Cricketers Club beat Young Friends Club by six wickets to enter the pre-quarter-final at the Khalsa College ground.

Vartik Tihara, who cracked 44 for Young Cricketers, was adjudged the man of the match. Young Cricketers will meet ONGC at the Kotla I ground in their next match.

Scores: 198 for 9 in 34 overs (Virender Sharma 41, Sarfraz Ali 31, Ashok Mourya 30, Harish 2 for 31, Geet Vats 2 for 47).

HDFC Bank sail into Hari Ram Cricket semis

HDFC Bank banked on the batting pyrotechniques of Pitamber Dutt and Uttar Pradesh Ranji Trophy player Prashant Malviya to stun star-studded Railways by 21 runs and enter the semi-final of the sixth Lala Hari Ram Aggarwal Memorial Day-Night Cricket Tournament at the Karnail Singh Stadium in the Capital.

HDFC captain Nirmal Bansal won the toss and elected to bat. Prashant Malviya and Pitamber Dutt added 103 runs for the third wicket to lay a solid foundation for the Bank total. Prashant scored 61 off 64 balls with eight fours while Pitamber Dutt slammed an unbeaten 71 off 56 balls with nine fours and two sixes.

Chasing such a modest total, Railways failed to reach the achievable target as they crashed out for 184 in 29.5 overs despite a fine knock of 60 by Zakir Hussain. Gyanender Pandey, Nischal Gaur and Raj Kapoor bowled with control and cunning to get the crucial wickets of Railways. Pitamber Dutt was adjudged the man of the match. He was presented with a BDM bat by Roop Chaudhary. Prashant Malviya and Raj Kapoor were chosen as the best batsmand and best bowler respectively.

Scores: HDFC Bank: 205 for 5 in 30 overs (Pitamber Dutt 71 n o, Prashant Malviya 61, Reetender Sodhi 20, Murali Karthik 2 for 45).

Railways: 184 all out in 29.5 overs (Zakir Hussain 60, Sachin Chaudhary 35, Murali Karthik 21, Arun Sharma 24, Gyanender Pandey 2 for 28, Nischal Gaur 2 for 25, Raj Kapoor 2 for 30).

Next match: Indian Airlines vs Business Standard.

Seedings hold good in ITF Women’s Tennis

New Delhi, June 13
Seedings more or less held good as the top three seeds qualified for the semi-finals of the ITF Women's Tennis Circuit Tournament at the Delhi Lawn Tennis Association courts in the Capital.

Only fourth-seeded Sonal Phadke could not keep her date with victory as she crashed out rather tamely to sixth seeded Radhika Tulpule at 0-6,4-6.

Second-seeded Shruti Dhawan had yet another easy outing when she pummelled Lata Assudani 6-0,6-1 while top seed Sheetal Goutham had to sweat it out in the sweltering heat to overwhelm fifth seeded Archana Venkataraman at 7-5,6-1.

Third-seeded Ankita Bhambri ousted seventh-seeded Liza Pereira 6-3,6-2 as the semi-final line-up was completed.

In the doubles semi-final, top-seeded pair of Shruti Dhawan and Sheetal Goutham got the better of Archana and Arthi Venkataraman 6-4,6-1 to storm into the final.

Anant Marichi bowls Salwan to victory

A devastating bowling performance by Anant Marichi (5 for 41) helped Salwan Boys School beat Poorvi Delhi Club by 153 runs and enter the semi-final of the second Karnail Singh Memorial Under-14 Cricket Tournament at the Tyagi Public School ground.

Scores: Salwan Boys: 285 for 7 in 35 overs (Daksh Sharma 72, Siddarth Sharma 56, Yogesh Nagar 44, Shobhit Kaushik 36, Sachin Gupta 3 for 49).

Poorvi Delhi Club: 132 all out in 19.5 overs (Chetan Bisth 36, Sachin Gupta 33, Harshbh Gupta 30, Anant Marichi 5 for 41).

Muttu hattricks for Nivia Club

Nivia Club outplayed Golden Stars 9-3 in the second Five-a-Side Raman Lamba Memorial Football Tournament for the Ambuja Cup at the Ambedkar Stadium in the Capital. A five-goal spree, including a hattrick, by Muttu was the highlight of the match.

Muttu scored the second, fifth, sixth, seventh and the ninth goals. The other scorers for the winners were Kapil (two) and Rakesh (two).

Nivia have collected four points from two matches while Golden Stars are yet to open their account.

In the second match, Delhi Vidyut Board failed to turn up match against Food Corporation of India (North Zone). In earlier matches, Delhi Cantonment routed Golden Stars 7-0, beat Simla Youngs 3-2 while Paschim Heroes held Nivia to a 1-1 draw.
