BCD directive to advocates
Tribune News Service

New Delhi, June 10
The Bar Council of Delhi today stated that those advocates, who ordinarily practise in Delhi though registered in other states, should register with it immediately failing which they would be held guilty of professional misconduct.

In a resolution, the BCD said, “All such advocates are advised to get their enrolments transferred immediately and apply for transfer in terms of Section 18 of the Advocates Act to the Bar Council of India to avoid any further embarrassment in terms of the aforesaid rule.”

The resolution quoted the Bar Council of India Rules governing the practice of an advocate, which stated that if an advocate did not apply for transfer of his name to the rolls of the State Bar Council in whose jurisdiction he ordinarily practised, he would be deemed to have committed professional misconduct under Section 35 of the Advocates Act.
