Parents enter children’s mould
Tribune News Service

Chandigarh, June 9
The day at Sant Namdev Bhawan, Sector 21, was about something very unique. Taking the lead all through were parents of children attending a theatre workshop at the bhawan for about a fortnight now. As elders took the centrestage, they dropped all inhibitions to let the child in them play and rejoice.

Although a little sluggish in the beginning, the response grew thicker as hours passed by. Then came a whole string of fun-packed events — right from Simon says, the killer game, tail game to dodge ball and the number game. Screaming and shouting over the thrill were all sorts of professionals — chartered accountants, doctors, businessmen and advocates.

Enacting different and interesting roles were Mr Jain, who played a tea vendor, Mr Minhas as a ticket checker, Ms Suman Sharma as a coolie, Ms Singla as a child. Ms Kaul and Ms Minhas were the winners of the tail game, while Ms Ahluwalia won the dodge ball section.

As for the kids, they took a back seat and relaxed throughout the session which saw their respective parents in a vibrant mood. The parents were later also given topics concerned with children for improvisation.

Before leaving the hall, the parents also gave their written comments about the workshop which is slated to conclude on June 15 when the kids will present four plays and five dance sequences.
