Nawab, Salim blast four-under 66 New Delhi, June 6 Chandigarh’s Amandeep Bhaika was tied-third with Dyal Singh, Hem Chand, Pradeep Kumar and Sanjeev Kumar at two-under 68. Amit Budwal, Brijpal Singh and Maniram Sharma were tied for the eighth position at one-under 69. The Patna-based Nawab made a birdie-bogey start to his round and followed it up with a hat-trick of birdies on the third, fourth and fifth. A bogey on the par-4 seventh saw him make the turn at two-under. On his back-nine, Nawab birdied the 10th and bogeyed the 16th before finishing with a birdie-birdie flourish. Kolkata’s Mohd. Salim began with successive birdies with a pared third hole preceding two more birdies on the fourth and fifth. The first bogey of his round on the sixth saw him finish his outward journey at three-under. A bogey start to his back-nine set him back a bit. However, back-to-back birdies on the 16th and 17th helped him recover to get tied for the lead at 68. |

Inborn Club beat Madras in DDCA League New Delhi, June 6 The match was reduced to 20 overs a side due to rain. Scores: Inborn Club: 147 for 9 in 20 overs (Vishal Razdan 36, Sonu Vaid 21, Suresh Tanwar 21, Bharat Khurana 22, Kamal Chopra 2 for 15, Rodney Charles 2 for 26). Madras Club: 130 all out in 19.2 overs (Robin Bisth 51, Rodney Charls 28, Suresh Tanwar 2 for 16, Sonu Vaid 2 for 36). Women’s Tennis The third leg of the ITF Women’s Circuit US $ 5000 Prize Money Tennis Tournament will be held at the Delhi Lawn Tennis Association courts from June 10 to 15. The ITF Circuit will be followed by the Masters, also to be held at the DLTA courts, from June 17 to 21.The first and second legs of the ITF Circuit were held in Chandigarh and Muzaffarnagar. Some of the prominent players participating in the Delhi leg are Sonal Phadke, Radhika Tulpule, Sheetal Gautam, Shruti Dhawan and Ankita Bhambri. The singles winner of the ITF circuit will pocket $650 while the Masters’ winner will be richer by $ 8000. The qualifying rounds for the ITF circuit will be held on June 8 and 9. The main draw for singles will comprise of 32 players while for the doubles, the main draw will have 16 teams. For the Masters, the singles draw will have only 16 players and eight pairs for the doubles. Mr Kishore Choudhry will be the ITF referee while Sunil Varun will be the chair umpire. Both are white badges.

Gagan bowls IA into final New Delhi, June 6 After their batsmen did a fine job to give Indian Airlines a comfortable total of 243 all out in the stipulated 40 overs, bowlers Gagan Deep and Babloo Kumar turned the tide by dismissing Collage Group for a paltry 146 in 32.1 overs. Gagan Deep was presented the Reebok man of the match award by Mr S.K.Dahiya, Department of Physics, Modern School. Indian Airlines will take on Chand Khanna in the title clash on June 8.
