19 die, 45 hurt as bus falls into river
Alibag, June 5
At least 19 persons were killed and 45 others injured, nine of them seriously, when a bus carrying them fell into a river in the wee hours on Wednesday on the Mumbai-Goa highway, about 85 km from here, the police said. The mishap occurred when the driver lost control over the vehicle near Mangaon at Kalamb village on the highway, it said. The victims included eight women and three girls. The bus was on its way to Mumbai from Lanja in Konkan region. PTI

2 BSF men killed in blast
Imphal, June 5
At least two BSF personnel were killed and five others seriously injured when a powerful bomb planted by insurgents went off at Serou in Thoubal district of Manipur on Wednesday official sources said. The bomb went off in the early hours on Wednesday morning killing two personnel who were patrolling the area and injuring five others. The injured had been hospitalised. Immediately after the blast the two sides exchanged fire. PTI
