13 chemist shops inspected

On the instructions of Dr J.S. Bhullar, Civil Surgeon, 13 chemist shops were inspected in the areas of Shimlapuri, Gill Road, Rahon Road, Tajpur Road and Division No. 3 by Mr Ajay Singla, Drugs Inspector, and Dr S.K. Sinha, SMO.

The sale and purchase records of drugs like Correx, Phensedryl, cough syrups, Proxivon capsules, Lomotil tablets, Buprinorphine injections and Fortwin injections were checked and were found violating the rules. The copies of inspection reports have been forwarded to the State Drugs Controller, Punjab, for the suspension and cancellation of drugs licenses of the firm. Five samples of drugs were also taken and sent for testing.

The inspections were done to check drugs that were misused as intoxicants.

Eyes donated

The eyes of Parveen Kumar (22), a resident of Jamalpur, were donated to Eye Bank Mansuran by his family members after his sudden demise here recently.

Dr Ramesh, Director, Eye Bank Mansuran, transplanted the cornea to two needy persons from district Fatehgarh Sahib and Ludhiana.

Cops told to get regular power connection

The DSP (H) Amrik Singh has directed cops residing in the police residential complex to get regular power connections. Some cops of the complex were caught by the PSEB during a raid on May 11 for taking power through kundi connections. Nine cops had no meter installed at their residence. They were fined Rs 25000 by the PSEB.

The DSP said that a fine would be paid in instalments by the guilty cops. He said to regularise their connections, security amount is being deposited to the PSEB office by deducting it from the salary of the guilty cops.
