Yoga camp proving a panacea for many ills
Nawal Kishore Rastogi

Rewari, May 9
The Yoga Practice and Ayurvedic Cure Camp at Gurukul Kishangarh, Ghasera, eight km from Rewari, has been making rapid strides. The number of participants since its inception on May 3, has now gone up to hundreds. This acceptability of the menu being provided at the camp, shows that the number might well cross the four figure digits by May 13 when the organisers will hold the closing ceremony of the 10-day camp, the first of its kind in this prestigious gurukul.

The camp is being conducted by Swami Ram Dev, an eminent Yoga-cum-Ayurveda specialist and founder president of the Divya Yoga Mandir Trust, Kankhal (Hardwar) which has now completely taken over the management of the gurukul.

The daily morning session at the camp held in the spacious open compound of the gurukul, which lasts from 6 am to 7.30 am (one and a half hours), comprises devotional prayers, Pranayam and other yogic exercises.

The Swami lays emphasis on Pranayam which, he asserts, is a panacea for almost all ailments.

Pranayam, which is virtually a process of inhaling, restraining and exhaling breath in various ways, comprises several measured steps involving deep, rapid and slow breathing exercises.

The Swami gives an excellent demonstration which is simultaneously practised by the participants who come from various parts of Rewari.

Making a special mention of the usefulness of Pranayam in daily life, the Swami tells them authoritatively that it definitely cures all types of gall, phlegmatic and rheumatic diseases, eliminates allergic problems, increases the power of resistance as well as concentration and gives one peace of mind.

The second session of the camp, which lasts from 9 am to 12 noon and 4 pm to 6 pm, is devoted to the examination of patients who are provided free consultation and Ayurvedic medicines (at a nominal price) by the Swami.

Swami Ram Dev, who started these Yoga Practice and Ayurveda Cure Camps in 1995, has so far organised about 100 such camps in various parts of Gujarat, Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal and Sikkim. Over one lakh people have benefited from these camps. The beneficiaries include hundreds of such persons as have been cured of their serious heart, brain and lung diseases and are now leading a healthy life.
