4 ultras shot, Major hurt in encounter

Srinagar, April 30
Four militants and a jawan were killed and four army personnel, including a Major, were injured in the Kashmir valley overnight.

Official sources said militants attacked a security force patrol at Baderpora in Anantnag district late last night with automatic weapons.

The security forces retaliated and in the half-an-hour encounter, two militants and a soldier were killed and two armymen, including a Major, were injured.

In another encounter at Matrigund Bandipora in north Kashmir today, the security forces killed two unidentified militants. Two security personnel were also injured and a house damaged in the clash.

The sources said militants entered the house of a ruling National Conference worker Raja at Kulgam and fired at the inmates with automatic weapons. Two persons were injured in the firing.

The bodies of two brothers, Charan Dass and Kuldeep Raj, were recovered by the police from Bravi Nullah in Rajouri district today, spokesman said. The duo was kidnapped by militants from their village at Dukhari-Bravi a few days ago.

A special police officer, who was injured in an encounter at Barua Seri in Baderwah town of Doda district on April 15, died at Jammu Government Hospital last night, hospital sources said.

BSF jawans detected two IEDs weighing 10 kg each concealed in tin containers at Manglogi village of Ramban tehsil of Doda district last night, the police said in Jammu. A BSF patrol party found the two containers with the IEDs on a village road around 7.30 pm and defused them.

JAMMU: A woman was injured when Pakistani troops resorted to firing on Dhanpur village in the Akhnoor sector, official sources said here, on Tuesday.

The woman, Radhika Devi, was hit in her abdomen in the firing from across the border last evening they said. She was rushed to Jammu Medical College Hospital where she was stated to be stable after surgery, the sources said.

Meanwhile, intermittent exchange of fire between two sides along IB took place at the old Kanachak, Chinore Farm, Garkhal, Pallanwala and Pargwal areas of Jammu district and Rathua in Kathua district since last night.

There was no report of any loss of life or damage to property on Indian side, they said. PTI, UNI
