Contempt notice to Army chief
New Delhi, April 15
The Delhi High Court today issued contempt notice to the Army chief Gen S Padmanabhan for reconvening the court of inquiry into the alleged custodial death of a Naib Risaldar, despite an earlier probe conducted on court order, finding the allegations to be true. A Division Bench issued notice to the Army chief and Lieut-Gen Surjit Singh, the then GOC, Western Command, for alleged interference in the court order. PTI

Scribe shot dead
Lucknow, April 15 
Unidentified assailants shot dead a crime reporter with the Janasatta Express at his residence here last night, the police said today. The assailants barged into Paritosh Pandey’s Gomti Nagar residence and fired point blank at the scribe. PTI
