2nd batch of T-90s in May-June: Envoy
Moscow, April 9
Russia will ship the second batch of 40 fully formed (FF) T-90 main battle tanks (MBT) to India, in May-June, Indian Ambassador to Moscow K. Raghunath said here today. Talking to reporters ahead of Defence Minister George Fernandes’s visit to Moscow, this week, he said Mr Fernandes would travel to Nizhny Tagil to see the progress of T-90s. UNI

SC Judge sworn in
New Delhi, April 9
Mr Justice Hotoi Khetoho Sema was today sworn in as the new judge of the Supreme Court. Chief Justice of India S.P. Bharucha administered the oath of office and secrecy to Mr Justice Sema at a simple ceremony in his court room. PTI

2 die in avalanche
Shimla, April 9
Two persons were feared killed in an avalanche on the Udaipur-Tingri road, 7 km from Udaipur, in the tribal Lahaul Spiti district today. The two were clearing the road of snow with a bulldozer when they came under the avalanche. UNI

Congress dharna
Patna, April 9
The Bihar unit of the Congress will observe a statewide dharna on Thursday to press for the sacking of the Union Home Minister L.K. Advani and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi for their alleged failure to tackle communal violence. PTI
