Special police cell to tackle crime against women Panipat, April 9 According to the SP, Ms Mamta Singh, the Mahila cell will deal with the cases relating to atrocities on women, particularly in dowry cases. She hoped that this step would save the women from frequent visits to the police stations. The staff in Mahila cell would include an Inspector, a woman Assistant Sub-Inspector, woman Havildars and constables. She further stated that as the investigation of economic offences takes a long time, it was felt necessary to solve these cases speedily and separately, especially since traders find it difficult to spend a lot of their time in the police stations and police chowkis. The process for constituting these cells had already been completed and they would become operational within next two days, she said. The step would not only provide relief to the people but also would help in controlling the crimes because after their constitution, the police stations would be left with the works to keep a check on criminals, she added. |
