Rainfall: Rain or snow has been reported from most places in Himachal Pradesh and at many places in Jammu and Kashmir. Rain or thundershowers have been reported at many places in Punjab and at isolated places in Haryana. Weather was mainly dry in the rest of the region. The chief amount of precipitation in cms was: Himachal Pradesh: Kangra and Shimla 1 each, Jammu and Kashmir: Quazigund 6 and Pahalgam and Srinagar 3 each and Punjab: Amritsar 1.

Temperatures: Past 24 hours change: maximum temperatures fell appreciably in Jammu and Kashmir, fell in Himachal Pradesh, rose appreciably in Uttaranchal and changed little elsewhere.

Departures: They were markedly below normal in Jammu and Kashmir, above normal in east Rajasthan and normal in the rest of the region. The highest temperature in the region was 24.6c recorded at Jhalawar (Rajasthan).

Past 24 hours change: Minimum temperature fell appreciably in Jammu and Kashmir, rose appreciably in west Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal, rose in Haryana and east Uttar Pradesh and changed little elsewhere. Departures: It was appreciably above normal in Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, east Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal, above normal in west Uttar Pradesh, below normal in Jammu and Kashmir and normal in Himachal Pradesh. The lowest tempeature in the plains was 10.4C° recorded at Adampur (Punjab).

Forecast valid until the morning of March 12, 2002: Rain or snow likely occur at many places in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir and at a few places in Uttaranchal. Rain or thundershowers likely at a few places in Punjab and at isolated places in Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. Weather will be mainly dry in Rajasthan.

Heavy rainfall warning: Heavy rain or snow is likely at isolated places in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir during the next 24 hours.

Forecast for Delhi and neighbourhoord valid until the morning of March 12, 2002: Partly cloudy sky with possibility of thundery development and light rain in some areas. Maximum and minium temperature will be around 29C° and 14C° respectively.
