CBI raids
New Delhi, February 22
The CBI tonight carried out countrywide raids on the premises of various Central Government officials against whom complaints of corruption and abuse of official position were received. Bureau sources said the searches and raids were continuing against certain senior and middle-level officials.

Rly Board Exam postponed
New Delhi, February 22
In view of the on-going strike by government employees and teachers in Kerala, the Railway Recruitment Board, Thiruananthaduram, has decided to postpone the written examination for the post of Inquiry-cum-Reservation Clerk/Grade II (Category No. 203), which was scheduled to be held at different centres in Kerala and Tamil Nadu on February 24.

Ex-Ambassador dead
New Delhi, February 22
Former Ambassador N.P. Alexander died here today following a brief illness. He was 73. A gold medalist in the 1953 IFS batch, Mr Alexander was Ambassador to about half-a-dozen countries. He had also held key positions in the Ministry of External Affairs. His funeral is likey to be held on Monday following the arrival of his children from the USA, according to family sources.

Bangladeshi killed
Coochbehar (West Bengal), February 22
A Bangladeshi national was killed and another injured in separate incidents of BSF firing on intruders in the Mekhligunj area of Coochbehar district early today.

BJP MLA dead
Jammu, February 22
Bharatiya Janata Party Member of Legislative Assembly from the Suchetgarh constituency in Jammu district Choudhary Chuni Lal died following a heart attack today in Government Medical College here. He was 64. He is survived by his wife, two sons and a daughter.
