BVM school students felicitated

Ludhiana, February 17
Students of Bharatiya Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School, Udham Singh Nagar, Ludhiana, who excelled in different sports disciplines during the current academic session were honoured by the school management at the prize distribution function of the VIth Annual Sports Meet of the school here on Saturday.

The students who gave excellent performance in the district, state and national level tournaments were given certificates and track-suits. The sportspersons honoured were, Nirdosh Dhand, Kirti Aggarwal, Shewta Lamba, Jagdeep Singh, Sumit Aggarwal and Parmod (table tennis), Nidhi Arora, Manjeet Kaur and Meenu Arora (judo), Shruti Sharma (yoga), Priya Bawa, Maneet Sharma, Rahul Chopra, Deepak Kumar Gautam, Gaurav Bajaj, Yogesh Maini, Ashim Sharma, Sahil Aggarwal, Isha Narula, Seema Arora and Rishu (athletics), Payal Jain and Silky Jain (carrom) and Kalika Gupta (football and athletics).

Members of the school football team which won state championship (u-17) and finished runners-up in the North Zone Schools Football Championship organised by Vidya Bharti at Delhi were also felicitated on this occasion. Members of the team are: Yogesh Sharma (captain), Anshul Singla, Binny, Suraj, Mandeep Singh, Mohit Gupta, Sahil Jain, Gaurav Jaidka ( all students of Class X), Vikas Soni, Dalpreet Singh and Deepak Kumar (all students of Class IX), Mandeep Singh, Deepak Soi and Nikhil ( all students of Class VII).

Athletics meet

Gaurav Bajaj and Monika Sharma, students of Class XI were declared best athletes among senior boys and girls, respectively, in the 6th Annual Athletics Meet of Bharatiya Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School, Udham Singh Nagar, Ludhiana, here on Saturday. In the junior section (girls), Kirti Sharma, student of class VI was adjudged the best athlete while in the boy’s section this honour was shared by Mandeep Singh and Amit Sharma, both students of Class VII class.

Earlier, Mr S.L. Lotey, DSO, Ludhiana, declared the meet open. Before the formal inauguration, Mr Baljeet Singh, Head of the Department of Physical Education and Sports, read out the annual sports report of the school. Mr Ashok Setia, Director of school, Mr Mitter Sen Gupta, president, BVM Trust, and Mr Rajesh Prashar, officiating principal of the school, were also present on this occasion.

Sports meet

Jasvir Kaur and Mandeep Singh were adjudged the best athletes among girls and boys sections respectively in the 82nd Annual Athletic Meet of the S.D. Government College for Boys, Ludhiana, which concluded on Saturday. Mr Apinder Singh Grewal, Mayor, Ludhiana, gave away prizes to the position holders.
