Haj pilgrims’ flight lands at Chennai
Chennai, February 2
A chartered Boeing aircraft, en route from Amman in Jordan to Dhaka to carry Haj pilgrims from Bangladesh to Mecca, with 42 crew members, made an unscheduled landing here last evening. The plane, which landed at old Meenambakkam airport at 6.30 p.m., was immediately towed to an isolated spot, where a thorough check was conducted, even as security personnel cordoned off the plane, the CISF commandant, Dr V.R. Sampath said. “None, excepting security personnel, were allowed to enter or leave the aircraft”, he said. The aircraft of Air Universal Aircaps, was earlier refused permission by Air Traffic Control at Mumbai to land there for refuelling. PTI

Attack on Laloo's counsel: 3 held
Patna, February 2
Three persons were arrested on Saturday in connection with the attack on RJD supremo Laloo Prasad Yadav’s counsel Mr Chittranjan Sat, his residence, the police said.SSP Sunil Kumar told a press conference here that the three — Sanjay Singh, Kaushalendra Sharma and Sandip Kumar — were apprehended from Patliputra Colony and four country-made pistols seized from them. The arrested persons did not not belong to any political party, he said. PTI
