Dispensary to open on Feb 15

Chandigarh, February 2
A Central Government Health Services (CGHS) dispensary will open in the city on February 15, fulfilling a long standing demand of the Central Government Pensioners Association.

The dispensary in the Sector 45 polyclinic will be inaugurated by the Union Health Minister, Dr C.P. Thakur. At the local level, members of the coordination committee of the pensioners’ association, Mr C.L. Punj, Mr B.S. Dard, Mr Rajpal Sharma and Mr A.S. Sandhu are assisting two CGHS doctors, Dr R.K. Khullar and Dr K. Vilku, in this project.

Pensioners will be required to get their CGHS cards prepared.

School sports meet

A sports meet for primary and middle classes was organised today by the Lions Club Chandigarh (Host) at DAV Model School in Sector 15.

Students participated in events, including skipping, three legged race and slow cycling. The president of the Ladies Club of the State Bank of India, Ms Madhu Kakkar, distributed the prizes.

11 SIs shifted

The Chandigarh Police tonight ordered transfer of 11 Sub-Inspectors, including five in charges of police posts around the city.

SI Gulshan Kumar has been transferred to police post (PP) at Bapu Dham from police station (PS)-Industrial Area. SI Har Sahey presently in charge of pp-Bapu Dham has been transferred to ps-Sector 39. SI Dalbir Singh, posted at pp-ISBT has been shifted to ps-Sector 36. SI Bhupinder Singh of Crime Branch will replace Dalbir Singh at the pp-ISBT. SI Balbir Singh of Crime Branch will take over as in charge of pp-Mauli Jagran. He replaces SI Pratap Singh, who has now been posted at ps-Sector 39.

ASI Pargat Singh, in charge of pp-Sector 61 has been shifted to ps-Sector 11 and his position will be taken by SI Pyre Lal, who is presently posted under the ps-Sector 11. SI Udaye Pal Singh, presently posted in police lines goes to ps-Sector 11, while SI Raghubir Singh has been shifted to ps-Sector 39 from pp-Darua (Railway Station). He will be replaced by SI Jaswinder Singh from ps-Sector 11.

Brig D.S. Dhillon

Chandigarh, February 2
Brig D.S. Dhillon took over as Deputy Director-General, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh NCC Directorate, here yesterday from Brig K.S. Kalha, according to an official release.

Commissioned in the Regiment of Artillery in 1969, Brigadier Dhillon raised and commanded an artillery regiment in high altitude and later commanded two infantry brigades, one in counter-insurgency operations and the other as a part of a strike corps. He was specially selected to revive and revitalise NCC in Jammu and Kashmir in the ongoing insurgency environment.
