Dhumal promises not to raise power tariff Mandi, January 25 Mr Dhumal lamented that the power projects constructed in Himachal Pradesh by the BBMB were depriving Himachal of its due share in power. In the construction of these projects people of the state had been rendered homeless and their fertile lands has merged in dams. Neither the Centre nor the state governments safeguarded the interests of the people during the construction of these projects. We are not getting a single unit of power from the Pong Dam Project. Of the 1380 MW power being generated in Bhakra Himachal is getting only 30 MW while from the 990 MW Dehar Power Plant only 15 MW is being given to Himachal”, he said. Mr Dhumal also remembered Dr Y.S. Parmar on the occasion of Himachal Day and added that he was the founder of the state. He promoted Himachal as an apple state of the country and now it was poised to become the power state. Earlier, the Chief Minister unfurled the National Flag and took the salute from the Contingents of the Police, NCC and Home Guards. Thakur Gulab Singh, Speaker, Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha, Forest Minister Rup Singh, Food and Supply Minister Mansa Ram, Minister of State Rural Development Prakash Chaudhary, MP Maheshwar Singh, Rangila Ram Rao MLA and state and district officials were also present. |
