Hero XI, Riat XI enter semis

Ludhiana, January 23
Rajiv Gagat (58) and Tarun (31) enabled Hero XI to an easy 5-wicket victory over title contender LDCA XI and enter the semifinals of the 6th Rajeev Gandhi and Ist Master Vishav Walia Memorial Cricket Tournament at the Daresi ground, here today.

LDCA XI won the toss and elected to bat first. They scored 144 runs after losing 6 wickets in the stipulated 22 overs. Rattam top scored with 54 runs, while former Punjab Ranji player Rakesh Saini scored 27 runs. Hero XI achieved the target in 20 overs after losing 5 wickets.

Brief scores: LDCA XI — 144 for 6 (Rattan 54, Rakesh Saini 27, Avinash 3 for 15 and Rajeev 2 for 22)

Hero XI — 145 for 5 (Rajeev Gagat 58, Tarun 31, Devinder 18, Surinder Sharma 15, Sachin 3 for 35 and Mohit Mangal 1for 22)

In the other quarterfinals, Riat XI recorded 63-run win against Brothers XI to make it to the last four stage.
