Students interact with parents Panchkula, January 19 The children , while telling the parents of the things around them, had actually dressed up as the things they were
depicting. The were dressed up as sun, moon, stars, different flowers , traffic lights, fruits and vegetables. Students of class Nursery had also dressed up as different parts of the computer and were informing the parents about the functions of these parts. A beautiful display of models of various modes of transportation was also prepared by the students of Class I. They gave a verbal presentations on their models. Students themselves made vegetable sandwi ches, which were later served to the parents. Each child was also describing the properties of the object he had dressed up as.” The idea is to show that the children are not just learning their course curriculum, but are also aware of the world around them,” said Ms Amita Khurana, Principal of the school. |
Rs 1 cr disbursed as
accident claims Chandigarh, January 19 In all, 869 cases were taken up by 18 benches of the lok adalat and 286 cases were settled. A sum of Rs 84,05,000 was awarded as compensation in 34 motor accident claims cases. In addition, a sum of Rs 17,50,532 was given as compensation in 23 cases by the special labour court. Mr Justice N.K. Sodhi, of the Punjab and Haryana High Court and executive chairman of the UT State Legal Services Authority, visited all courts and took keen interest to solve the cases. A special lok adalat was organised under the supervision of the UT District and Sessions Judge, Mr H.S. Bhalla, in collaboration with the State Legal Services Authority. The lok adalat also took up traffic challan cases and cases under the Shops Act, and disposed of 921 summary cases and recovered a sum of Rs 76,800 as fine. The member secretary, UT State Legal Services Authority, Mr B.C. Gupta, informed the next lok adalat is now proposed to be held on April 6. Mr Gupta also informed that a seminar was also being held on February 4, in Bapu Dham colony in Sector 26 at about 3 p.m. |
Rape case accused
to appear in court Chandigarh, January 19 The police had filed an untraced report in the case. Later, all six accused were granted bail by the court. The police had registered a case of rape on the statement of the victim before magistrate. The accused have also been booked under Section 376 of the IPC. |
