Rest of India draw with England eves New Delhi, January 13 The Indian women’s team, after sweeping the One-Day International series against the visiting England team, took the two-day match at the salubrious Teri Oval as a rejuvenating exercise in preparation of their one-off Test against the visitors, starting in Lucknow on Monday. The match was inaugurated by Dr Leena Srivastava, Director (Regulatory and Governance Division) of TERI (Tata Energy Research Institute). Rest of India, batting first in pleasant conditions, could make only 101 runs in their first innings, while England replied with 148. But in the second innings, the Indian eves not only put on show some brilliant batting pyrotechnics, but also excelled with the ball to put the English women on the backfoot, to end the contest with honours even. Rest of India made 146 for eight in their second innings and then restricted England to 55 for 4 at close of play to draw the match. Mr M M Joshi, Director, Administrative Services (TERI), gave away the prizes to the teams. |
