Teej celebrations in city colleges

Ludhiana, August 18
Swings, ‘mehndi’ and ‘giddha’ competitions and stall of games and eatables were organised to mark ‘Teej’ celebrations at Guru Nanak Girls’ College, Model Town, and Master Tara Singh Memorial College for Women here today.

At Guru Nanak Girls’ College, students depicted the traditional Punjabi culture and had dressed up in typical Punjabi attire. More than 50 students participated in the mehndi contest. A ‘Miss Punjaban’ contest was also held in which 20 girls participated.

Besides, the students and teachers enjoyed the stalls of eatables and games. Some students also arranged a stall where they sold bangles, ‘parandas’ and ‘tikkas’. Ms Charanjit Mahal, officiating Principal, apprised the students of the importance of the day.

Seminar on education

Ludhiana, August 18
A seminar on current education policy will be organised by the Government Teachers Union, Punjab at Guru Nanak Girls High School, Gujjar Khan, Model Town, Ludhiana, at 11 a.m. Dr Dalvir Singh Dave, ex-Dean, PAU, Prof Jaspal Singh and Mr Harkanwal Singh, ex-general secretary, Government Teachers Union, will deliver lectures on the situation of education in Punjab.

Workshop for Principals ends

Ludhiana, August 18
A three-day workshop on the managerial leadership development programme for Principals of Panjab University colleges concluded at Ramgarhia Girls’ College, Millerganj, on Saturday. The principals were given lectures on changing the administration style as per the changing scenario in education. Various issues like course relevance, upgradation of syllabi were discussed. The Principals of 30 colleges of the district participated.
