Asylum fire toll 28

The toll in the devastating fire in a mental asylum at Ervadi in the district on August 6 has risen to 28 with yet another victim, a woman succumbing to burns at the hospital on Thursday, the police said. Twentyfive inmates of the asylum, including 11 women, who were chained to their beds, were burnt alive in the fire which swept through the thatched hostel housing them, near a dargah in Ervadi. PTI
