Our Correspondent

Ludhiana, August 8
The officials of the Building Branch of the municipal corporation today razed a portion of Sukhmani Towers, a commercial complex, under construction, in Kochar Market locality in Model Gram here.

This was the second demolition, carried out at the same site by the MC. In June also some parts of the building, raised in violation of the building bylaws, were demolished.

According to the MC Additional Commissioner, Mr S.K. Sharma, the demolition squad of the MC had brought down a part of the building with the help pf bulldozers earlier and the builders were told to carry out the rest of demolition manually, strictly following the approved building plan. However, the builders having failed to carry out the instructions, the building staff had to swing into action.

The Municipal Town Planner, swung Mr S.S. Bhatia, who personally supervised the demolition, told Ludhiana Tribune that the commercial complex was being constructed in violation of the building bylaws to the extent that there was excess area covered and the mandatory requirement for parking provision was not followed by the builders.
