Maruti hikes prices
New Delhi, August 6
India’s largest car maker Maruti Udyog today hiked prices of almost all its car models by between Rs 2,622 and Rs 6,509, company officials said. “Prices of different models have been increased by 1-2 per cent from today,” they said. The three variants of 800cc car — Standard, EX and DX have been effected a price hike of Rs 3,293, Rs 4,849 and Rs 4,513 (ex-showroom Delhi) respectively. PTI

Ordnance depot fire
New Delhi, August 6
A minor blast today took place in the Central Ordnance depot of Jabalpur, triggering a small fire which was swiftly brought under control, Army officials said here. They said the blast was caused when old ammunition was being broken down at the depot’s technical area lab. PTI
