New courts at YMCA The YMCA Total Tennis Academy decided to have three new grass courts in the premises of YMCA, Sector 11, which will be functional by August 4. According to Mr Arvind Noel, secretary of the academy, the number of grass courts were on the decline due to its huge maintenance costs, but at TTA, the emphasis will be to groom tennis players at grass-root

Drive against illegal mining Panchkula, July 31 Directing officials at a meeting of officers of these departments, the Deputy Commissioner, Ms Jyoti
Arora, asked the District Mining Officer to prepare a map, demarcating the prohibited and functional mines’ list by August 4. He was also asked to provide a list of rules and regulations in the context to all officers of the department concerned. Further, Ms Arora said that a committee under the SDM, Kalka, had been constituted to carry out inspections and register cases against those indulging in illegal mining. Giving details about the mining status in the district, she said that there were 48 mines of which 30 were on annual contract basis, six on short-term basis and 12 were still vacant for auction.
